It all started in October 2013 when I enrolled some sewing classes.

When I was young I was so tiny that I always had to make my cloths smaller for them to fit. I thik this may be the reason why I always had liked to sew and wanted to learn more to make some things by myself. So I googled it and I found the contact details of Amparo, a pattern maker and sewer who had her atelier in a quite remote neighborhood of Madrid (Spain). I went there every Saturday morning for few months to learn. I loved to be there, the hours went by so fast!

This year, I was invited to several weddings and as I couldn't find anything that really fitted what I was looking for, I asked Amparo to make some dresses together. When I attended the first wedding with one of my dresses I couldn't believe it: lots of girls came to me to ask about the dress. Then I had a lightbulb moment: it would be so cool that some other girls wear my dresses in special events of their life!

I had always felt attracted by the entrepreneurial world and fashion but when I had to choose what to study at university I finally decided to study Law and Business. When I finished university I started to work as an M&A lawyer in a British law firm. During the last 5 years I have been trying to combine both Lady Pipa and my job.

But I quited one month ago. To be honest I had never seen myself working in this law firm forever, sitted in front of a computer wachting time passing by while I was doing something that I was not 100% sure that was my thing. But I spent the last 6 years of my life like this.

I needed to get out from my comfort zone. It has not been easy at all. But I finally did it. I left everything behind and jumped in the deep. Now yes, the jorney of Lady Pipa has started.

“We all want things to stay the same. We settle to live in misery because we are afraid of change, of things crumbling to ruins” Eat, pray, love movie.

I will tell you everything

That's why I want to take advantage of this blog to tell you step by step all the process. I want to tell you absolutely everything, from how I overcame the fears that prevented me to get out from my comfort zone, what were the first steps to set up Lady Pipa, how we make our cloths, my system to take decisions... and more. I hope it will help you to improve your own life or to create your own business.

In the next posts I will tell you:

1.- What lead me to quit my job and work full time for Lady Pipa

2.- Four fears that I had to overcome to set up Lady Pipa

3.- The loneliness of founding a fashion brand on your own

4.-  How we make our cloths

5.- And many other things that I have in mind....

And why a journey until we dress Beyonce?

Because it is key to have a target to go in the right direction.

Beyonce represents certain values that I admire: she is hard-working, self-made, entreprenur, mother, feminist and succesful. Besides, she has so much influence.

But the real target goes beyond dressing Beyonce. Obviusly this would be an honour. But actually our target is to change the way we traditionally dress when we have a special event. We have changed and our party dresses should equally change. We want to make cloths for you to feel as true to yourself as any other day but much prettier. That's why in Lady Pipa simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

If after reaching this goal, Beyonce wears a Lady Pipa dress then my dream will be more than fulfilled.

Ah! And of course you don't need to use a Lady Pipa to join our journey, but if you'd like to see our coleccion click here.
